Why does the Safe Surfer for Windows installer report that "App Installer failed to install package dependencies"?

The Safe Surfer for Windows app uses a Microsoft technology for Windows called App Installer, which is designed to retrieve what's called a "runtime". This special software provides a framework that the Windows app needs to run. The runtime is automatically download through the Microsoft Store app in the background. If the Safe Surfer for Windows installer reports that "App Installer failed to install package dependencies", try the following steps.

If you're trying to update the Safe Surfer for Windows app, make sure that you're not blocking the Microsoft Store category for the device in question. You can check this on the Safe Surfer dashboard's Blocking menu.

Update Microsoft Store apps

Click the Start menu, then open the Microsoft Store app. If you can't see the Microsoft Store app icon, you can start typing in the Start menu for "Microsoft Store", which should appear. Once you've opened the Microsoft Store app, click the Library icon at the lower-left corner. Once you've opened the Library menu, click the Get updates button at the upper-right corner. This could take several minutes.

Once the app updates have downloaded and installed, close out of the Microsoft Store app and open the Safe Surfer for Windows installer to try again.
