Using the Safe Surfer dashboard

Once you've made a Safe Surfer account, it's easy to manage your protected devices anywhere in the world with the Safe Surfer dashboard. Let's walk you through the basics.

Home

You will be greeted by the Home page once you have logged in to the dashboard. This page contains a few useful charts that give you the low-down on the latest statistics regarding your protected devices.

Alerts

The next button on the left sidebar will take you to the Alerts page. This menu details important activity notifications. For example, if a device you are protecting attempts to access a pornographic website or hasn't been connected to Safe Surfer for a while, a notification will appear on this page.

If you select the Settings button found at the upper right, this will take you to a submenu where you can enable the sending of regular emails regarding the activity of your protected devices. Simply tick the box found next to "Send me alerts by email". Once you're done, select the blue "Save" button found at the upper right.

My Devices

The next button on the sidebar will take you to the My Devices page. This menu gives you the ability to add and monitor protected devices. The protection process can be started by selecting the "+ New Device" button.

If you select the "Jump To" button on a device listing, you can select the "Screentime Timetables" button to manage device Screentime.

From this menu you can set what content can be accessed when.

Want to give it a go? Select the "Edit" button at the upper right. Select the "+ Add" button. Select the proceed arrow with "Block Sites" selected. Once you have selected an item (or items) from the categories, filtering, and/or blocklist tabs, select the proceed arrow. Once you have selected the times that you would like this content to be blocked, select the proceed arrow. Once this process has been completed, select the "Add Timetable" button. Select the blue "Save" button at the upper right. This content will now be blocked at the times specified. If you would like to tweak a rule, select the "Edit" button again and then select the three dot icon next to the one you wish to change.

Block Sites

The next button on the sidebar will take you to the Block Sites page. This menu gives you the ability to block categories of websites from being accessed. You can set these rules as "Defaults" (that is, by default for all of your protected devices), or even per device: select the blue bubble in the middle of the page, pick a device, and then select the "Override Defaults" toggle. Select the "Save" button at the upper right once you're done.

History

The next button on the sidebar will take you to the History page. This menu visualises the browsing history of protected devices. Selecting the "Viewed Categories" tab will show groups of successfully accessed websites (in their respective categories). Selecting the "History" tab will show a log of all website domains (for example, "safesurfer.co.nz") that were attempted to be accessed by protected devices. Selecting the "Activity" tab will show the volume of domains accessed over the current specified period.

Screencasts

The next button on the sidebar will take you to the Screencasts page. This menu gives you the ability to monitor supported devices that have the Screencast feature turned on. This feature can actively monitor devices for objectionable content.

Account

The next button on the sidebar will take you to the Account page. This menu enables you to manage your Safe Surfer account. For example, you can manage the status of your Pro Surfer subscription in the "Subscription" submenu.
