Safe Surfer system requirements
The Safe Surfer team tests our solutions on a wide range of devices and web browsers. Unfortunately some devices and browsers can have design issues or even hijack your user experience. A list of devices and browsers we recommend can be found below.
We are not sponsored by any company or organisation.
Firefox; various Chromium-based browsers (e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Chromium)

Safe Surfer supports Firefox and various Chromium-based browsers. Either option will work great, but we have found Firefox to be more versatile in various scenarios (on mobile in particular).
Brave; Opera Mini

Brave and Opera Mini include technologies that can be used to work around our systems in certain circumstances. We block web domains surrounding these two browsers to prevent their use.
Android 9 (codename Pie) or higher

Android version 9 and higher features Private DNS technology, which makes it a lot easier for us to provide you with reliable and lightweight device protection that doesn't get in the way.
You can find what version of Android your smartphone or tablet is running by navigating to your Settings app > About [phone/tablet] > Software information.
Android 5.1 (codename Lollipop)
Google; Samsung

Android smartphones and tablets manufactured by Google or Samsung (among other manufacturers, as below) don't make changes to the systems that our filtering service might rely on (for example, VPN services and/or Private DNS).
ASUS; Nokia; OnePlus; Oppo; Sony

Huawei; Xiaomi

Android smartphones and tablets manufactured by Huawei or Xiaomi have been known to hijack or hide custom DNS-related systems. We commonly receive reports for incompatibilities surrounding these two manufacturers.

iOS / iPadOS 14 and higher features smarter DNS technologies that enable us to give you more protection method options.
