How to block porn on Windows 10

Safe Surfer makes it easy to block porn and other harmful online content on a Windows 10 device. This guide will show you how to install Safe Surfer protection.

Step 1: Install protection

On the device to be protected, visit the Windows app download page (https://safesurfer.io/windows), then click the Download for Windows button.

Once the Safe Surfer app installer has downloaded, open the File Explorer app. Click the Downloads folder on the left-hand sidebar, then open the app installer.

On the window that appears, click the Install button.

The app installer might automatically download some official Microsoft software to run the app, which can take a moment. If this process takes more than five minutes, you can find more information by clicking this link.

Once Safe Surfer has opened, click the "Install protection" button.

On the prompt that appears, click the Connect button.

Enter a name for this device so that it can be identified later, then click the Next button.

If you're planning to assign this device to a specific person on the Safe Surfer dashboard later on, you don't have to enter the name of the person as part of the device name.

You can assign this device to a person, or you can click the Skip button to do this later.

Click the Finish button. When Windows asks for your permission to make changes with Windows PowerShell, click the Yes button.

If you chose to connect an account earlier on, Safe Surfer will offer you to set a PIN. Once you've entered a PIN for the app, click the OK button.

Safe Surfer will offer you to disable a small amount of Windows features that could be abused to evade filtering. If you're not using this device for a work situation that requires VPN connectivity, we strongly recommend selecting the Yes option. If you click Yes, when Windows asks for your permission to make changes with Windows PowerShell, click the Yes button.

If you chose to connect an account earlier, Safe Surfer will offer you to enable optional features. We recommend leaving app blocking selected, and also leaving the social media monitoring and nudity detection features selected if you're protecting a child. (The social media monitoring and nudity detection features will increase battery consumption for laptop devices when not charging.)

If you're protecting your own device, you can unselect the social media monitoring and nudity detection features, as they don't affect the quality of filtering.

Once you've made sure that work in any open apps has been saved, click the "Restart now" button.
