How to uninstall the Safe Surfer for iOS app

This guide will show you how to uninstall the Safe Surfer app on an iPhone or iPad.

This uninstallation guide is for iPhone and iPad devices that were protected with the Safe Surfer app (being our normal protection method). If you didn't use the Safe Surfer app to install protection, you can view the correct guide by clicking this link.

Step 1: Unsupervise device

If you supervised a device for app blocking or prevent uninstallation features, you will first need to unsupervise the device. You can find out how to do this by visiting the Devices menu (https://my.safesurfer.io/devices) on one of your personal devices > select the user assigned to this device, then click the applicable device listing > click the Lockdown button > Unsupervise device. Once the device has been unsupervised, you can proceed with step 2.

Step 2: Turn off Apple content restrictions

On the protected device, open the Settings app.

Tap the Screen Time menu.

Tap the Content & Privacy Restrictions menu.

Tap the switch found next to Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Enter the Screen Time passcode. Once you've done this, go back to the Screen Time main menu to save the changes.

If you've forgotten the passcode (and you set up Screen Time Passcode Recovery), navigate to the Screen Time main menu > Change Screen Time Passcode > Turn off Screen Time Passcode > tap the "Forgot Passcode?" option > enter the details for the Apple Account that was used to set up Screen Time Passcode Recovery.

Step 3: Uninstall the Safe Surfer app

Go to the Home Screen, then navigate to the App Library (that is, browse through the Home Screen pages until you reach the App Library). Tap the search bar at the top.

Search for the Safe Surfer app, then long-tap it in the search results.

Tap the Delete App option.

On the prompt that appears, tap the Delete button.

If this device wasn't originally supervised (that is, if you didn't need to go through step 1), you will also need to remove the protection profile. Once the Safe Surfer app has been deleted, you can do this by navigating to the Settings app > General > VPN & Device Management > under the Configuration Profile section, tap Safe Surfer > Remove Profile > enter the passcode used to unlock this device > Remove.

Uninstallation complete

You have now successfully uninstalled Safe Surfer from this device. As the account holder, you can also remove the listing for the now unprotected device by visiting the Devices menu (https://my.safesurfer.io/devices). On the Devices menu, select the user that this device is assigned to > click the applicable device listing > click the three-dot button found inside the listing > Delete (and confirm).
