How to check for VPN apps on iPhone and iPad

This guide will show you how to check if there are VPNs on an iPhone or iPad, along with how you can delete them.

Step 1: Check for VPNs

Open the Settings app.

Tap the General menu.

Tap the VPN & Device Management menu.

Tap the VPN menu.

In the following example, a connection listing for Proton VPN exists on this iPhone.

  1. If you can see connection listings like the following example, proceed to step 2.
  2. If you can't see any connection listings, you've confirmed that no VPNs are currently being used on this device.

Step 2: Delete VPN apps

Go to the Home Screen, then navigate to the App Library (that is, browse through the Home Screen pages until you reach the App Library). Tap the search bar at the top.

Search for a VPN app, then long-tap it in the search results.

Tap the Delete App option.

On the prompt that appears, tap the Delete button. (Repeat this process for any other VPNs.)

Back in the Settings app, the VPN menu should now be empty.
