Protect a Xiaomi Android device with Safe Surfer
Due to how Xiaomi have designed their Android devices, you will need to go through an extra step to get the Prevent uninstallation features working correctly. Depending on your phone model, these steps could look a little different.
Xiaomi devices run either MIUI, HyperOS, or Android Go (for some budget devices). These steps apply only for MIUI or HyperOS devices, and might look different depending on your device model.
During this step, if you have already installed the Prevent uninstallation features, the Safe Surfer app will block some device features that can be abused to bypass Safe Surfer. If you see the Safe Surfer PIN screen appear, simply swipe down from the top of the screen to find the Safe Surfer notification that will allow you access, then enter your PIN.
When you have the Prevent uninstallation features installed, you won't be able to access the Quick settings section due to how this feature can be abused to bypass Safe Surfer. If you would liek to use the Quick settings section, you can customise the Quick settings menu to remove the Ultra power saving shortcut.
On older Xiaomi devices, the customise function for Quick settings can be accessed by swiping to the end of the Quick settings list and tapping the Edit button. On newer Xiaomi devices, this can be accessed by tapping the Pencil box icon when opening the Quick settings section.
Open the Security app.
Tap the Settings cog icon at the upper-right corner.
Tap the Boost speed menu.
Tap the Lock apps menu.
Tap the switch found next to the Safe Surfer app listing to enable it.
On the home screen, locate the Safe Surfer app and long-tap it. Tap the App info option.
Tap the Other permissions menu.
Tap the Open new windows while running menu.
Tap the Always allow option.
Navigate back twice, then tap the Battery saver menu.
Tap the No restrictions option. Navigate back, then close the Settings app. If you haven't finished the Prevent uninstallation setup process, you can now continue this inside the Safe Surfer app.
