How can I hide an Android app on the Home and App screens without blocking it?
As a parent/caregiver, in certain situations you might like to hide various Android apps without uninstalling them. This can be useful to reduce the use of apps while still having them functional if needed. Each app will still be functional—this just hides them from being listed on the Home and Apps screens.
We demonstrate hiding apps on a Samsung phone running Android 14 (released in 2023). These steps should look similar for other device manufacturers.
Open the Settings app, then tap the Home screen menu.
Tap the Hide apps on Home and Apps screens menu.
Tap the checkbox found next to the applicable app.
Tap the Done button at the bottom of the screen. The app(s) you selected will now be hidden on the Home and Apps screens.
