# How to use screen monitoring features on the Safe Surfer dashboard

This article will show you how to use screen monitoring features (that is, social media monitoring and nudity detection), along with how to change dashboard settings for these features.

# Texts & social media

Visit the Devices menu of the online Safe Surfer dashboard (https://my.safesurfer.io/devices). Select a user or device, then tap the "Texts & social media" menu.

If any detections have occured, you'll see each detection in a list. The following example shows the detection of a potentially inappropriate message received via Facebook Messenger. You can adjust the blur of the screenshot by dragging the slider.

If you would like to manage a detection, tap the bell icon on the applicable detection listing.

You can report an inaccurate detection, ignore detections from the app that was being used at the time of detection, or delete the detection listing.

### Manage dashboard settings for social media monitoring

If you would like to manage ignoring or muting specific apps for social media monitoring, you can do this by navigating to the Devices menu > select the applicable user/device > Texts & social media > tap the three-dot button found next to the drop-down box.

Tap the Preferences option.

To add a rule for an app, tap the "Add app rule" button. (You can also manage pre-existing rules here.)

Continuing with adding an app rule, you can now select a specific app and choose an action. Once you're ready, tap the "Save rule" butotn.

# Nudity detection

Visit the Devices menu of the online Safe Surfer dashboard (https://my.safesurfer.io/devices), select a user or device, then tap the "Nudity detection" menu.

If any detections have occured, you'll see each detection in a list. The following example shows the detection of a potentially inappropriate image seen on a website while using the Chrome app. You can adjust the blur of the screenshot by moving the slider.

| Due to our cloud safety obligations, we blur the detected section itself on-device (before it's sent to your dashboard), where it cannot be unblurred later.

If you would like to manage a detection, tap the bell icon on the applicable detection listing.

Tap the Ignore option (or you can delete the listing).

Continuing with the Ignore option, you can apply a higher detection threshold. This means that in general, you should receive less detections if you are seeing too many false positives (that is, incorrect detections, which are normal due to the nature of screen monitoring technology). In the following example, the detection confidence was 83%, where continuing with the Ignore option would proceed to ignore any new detections at 83% confidence or less. If you would like to proceed, select an option to apply to, then tap the Ignore button.

### Manage dashboard settings for nudity detection

If you would like to manage the detection threshold settings for nudity detection, you can do this by navigating to the Devices menu > select the applicable user/device > Nudity detection > tap the three-dot button found next to the drop-down box.

Tap the Preferences option.

There are three options available on this menu:

* Enabled, where you will receive all detections
* Mute, where you will receive detections above a certain confidence level
* Ignore, where no detections will be received

The confidence slider applies to all apps, where you can manage rules for specific apps by tapping the "Add app rule" button.

In the following example, the confidence threshold has been set to 50% across all apps, which automatically turns on the Mute option (in accordance with the confidence threshold).
