Safe Surfer supports filtering via secure DNS on mobile and desktop Google Chrome browsers. This is a good option for individuals who need an easy alternative solution to use Safe Surfer without having to change the DNS servers on your device.
To get started, you will need to generate a custom link for Google Chrome to use. At My Safe Surfer (https://my.safesurfer.io/devices?tab=dns), you will need to create a listing for a new DNS device (and sequentially a custom link which Google Chrome will use). Once you have logged in to My Safe Surfer via the hyperlink above, create a new DNS device listing by clicking the New Device button. Once you have created a new DNS device listing, click the Connect button on the listing and copy the DoH link we generated. This will be the link you will paste into the Provider URL text box in Google Chrome later on.

These links point Google Chrome to our servers. Our servers know the account associated with this link. This enables us to apply filtering and other custom filter settings for you.

Configure secure DNS on Google Chrome
Mobile:
Open Google Chrome and tap the menu icon at the top right.

Tap the Settings button

Under Basics, tap Privacy

Tap the Use secure DNS menu

Ensure the Use secure DNS toggle is enabled. Select the Choose another provider option. In the Provider URL text box, paste the URI link you copied earlier from My Safe Surfer.

Once you have performed the above steps for mobile, your Google Chrome browser should now be protected with Safe Surfer. You can check your browser status by visiting the Safe Surfer website (https://www.safesurfer.co.nz).

Desktop:
Open Google Chrome and click the menu icon at the top right.

Click Settings

Scroll down to the Privacy and security section. Click the Security menu.

Scroll down to the Advanced section. Ensure the Use secure DNS toggle is enabled. Select the With <Custom> option. Paste the URI link you copied earlier from My Safe Surfer into the text box below.
