Vodafone HG659 is a common modem router provided by Vodafone in New Zealand. This is a guide to manually configuring your modem router to use our Safe Surfer DNS servers if you do not have a Wi-Fi Lifeguard.

Using your favourite web browser (e.g. Google Chrome or Firefox), try visiting http://192.168.1.1

If this does not open the Vodafone modem router administration panel, try visiting our Generic Router page. This page will try and help you automatically find your default gateway address:

Once you have opened the Vodafone modem router administration panel, enter in your administrator username and password. The default credentials for the administrator username and password are CaSe SeNsiTiVe and are either of the following:

Username: Admin / Password: @<last eight digits of your modem router's serial number> (e.g. @87654321)
Username: Admin / Password: VF-NZhg659

Click the Internet tab on the menu bar

On the Internet menu sidebar, click Internet Settings

Under the internet_vdsl profile, click Edit

Under the IP Information section, ensure IPv4 is selected in the IP protocol version drop down box. Find the Static DNS checkbox and check it. Once the Static DNS checkbox has been checked, enter 104.155.237.225 in the IPv4 primary DNS server text box and enter 104.197.28.121 in the IPv4 secondary DNS server text box.

Restart your modem router.

Once you have performed the above steps, you should now be protected with Safe Surfer. You can check your device protection status by visiting the Safe Surfer website (https://www.safesurfer.co.nz).
